Biography

If there is one word that defines Esteban Ocon’s journey, it is perseverance. From his earliest days in karting, he had the unwavering support of his family, who sold their home and lived on the road, following him from circuit to circuit across Europe.

His talent quickly became evident. In 2014, Ocon claimed the European Formula 3 title, beating Max Verstappen, and the following year he won the GP3 championship. His career took another leap in 2016 when he made his Formula 1 debut, stepping in for Rio Haryanto at Manor from the Belgian Grand Prix onwards.

The next step came in 2017 with Force India, where his fierce battles with Sergio Perez highlighted his potential and established him as a rising star. Changes within the team in 2018 temporarily left him without a seat, but Ocon stayed ready and served as Mercedes’ reserve driver in 2019.

He returned to the grid in 2020 with Renault, which became Alpine in 2021, and achieved his first Formula 1 victory, also marking the first win for the historic French team in the modern era. The 2025 season with Haas brought new challenges, and the next chapter promises to be equally significant: in 2026, Ocon is set to join Cadillac’s ambitious program, bringing experience, talent, and determination to a fresh stage of top-level motorsport.

Nothing in Ocon’s career has come easily, but he has shown that talent combined with patience and self-belief can take him to the top step of the podium and keep him among the elite in Formula 1.
