George Russell

Russell had one of the strongest weekends of the season, taking pole position and converting it into a very important victory for his championship campaign. Despite facing extreme heat, high tyre degradation and pressure from his main rivals, he remained composed throughout the race. He was pushed by Verstappen and Antonelli but never lost control of the situation when it mattered most. A mature and flawless performance that restores confidence and strengthens his title ambitions.

Max Verstappen

Verstappen responded brilliantly after his qualifying mistake and delivered one of his strongest performances of the recent races with Red Bull. The car upgrades appeared to work well, allowing the Dutchman to fight directly against Mercedes and Ferrari once again. He showed aggression, control and excellent race pace, especially during his battles with Hamilton and Antonelli. Second place was a very positive result and proved Red Bull is getting closer to fighting for victories again.

Liam Lawson

Lawson continues his impressive run in 2026 and achieved his fourth consecutive points finish of the season. Racing Bulls once again produced a very competitive car in the midfield, and the New Zealander made the most of the opportunity. Despite an early scare with brake issues, he remained calm and delivered another mature performance. He is becoming one of the biggest positive surprises of the season and is establishing himself in Formula 1.

Kimi Antonelli

Antonelli did not have the dominant weekend seen in some previous rounds, but he still secured an important podium to maintain his championship advantage. A mistake involving yellow flags affected his qualifying result, forcing him to recover positions during the race. He lacked the pace to challenge Russell and Verstappen at the front, but avoided losing significant points. A solid result from a weekend where he was not operating at his absolute best.

Oscar Piastri

Piastri delivered an efficient race and extracted almost everything McLaren had available in Austria. Although the car did not have the pace to challenge Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, he took advantage of opportunities and finished ahead of Hamilton. Fourth place represented the maximum possible result considering McLaren’s performance level. A quiet but mature drive that showed his ability to maximize results even on difficult weekends.

Arvid Lindblad

Lindblad continues to show progress and achieved another positive result during his rookie Formula 1 season. After a period of adaptation and some inconsistent performances, the young driver appears increasingly comfortable with the car and the pressure of the category. He could not beat Lawson in the Racing Bulls battle, but maintained competitive pace throughout the race. Another strong performance that highlights his potential and steady development.

Lewis Hamilton

7.3

Hamilton had the pace to fight for a better result, but Ferrari once again struggled to match Mercedes and Red Bull’s race performance. The seven-time champion stayed close to Russell early in the race, but a strategy compromised by the VSC period damaged his chances of fighting for victory. He still managed to finish fifth and beat Leclerc, avoiding a worse outcome. The feeling remains that a podium was possible with a better strategic call.

Isack Hadjar

7.0

Hadjar made good use of Red Bull’s improvements and secured an important sixth-place finish in Austria. Despite a qualifying session below expectations, he showed strong race pace and managed to defeat competitors from stronger teams. He was still unable to match Verstappen’s performance level, but delivered exactly what the car allowed. The result confirms his growth and shows he is becoming increasingly prepared to fight for important positions.

Gabriel Bortoleto

A strong and consistent race from the Brazilian, who once again came very close to securing Audi’s first points of the season. The team has clearly improved and is now regularly fighting inside the midfield battle. Bortoleto delivered a mature performance, managed the race well and finished as Audi’s leading driver. However, without retirements among the front-running teams, another opportunity to finally reach the top 10 was lost.

Lando Norris

6.2

For Norris, Austria represented a weekend that never fully came together. McLaren lacked the pace to fight Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull, but the gap to teammate Piastri was still a concern. The British driver finished seventh and struggled to make a significant impact during the race. More consistency will be required if he wants to remain in contention for stronger championship positions.

Nico Hulkenberg

Audi’s progress was one of the positive stories of the weekend, although Hulkenberg could not turn that improvement into points. The German gained positions during the race and showed good discipline, but the final pace was not enough to challenge the top 10. Finishing behind teammate Bortoleto reduced the overall impact of his performance. Still, it was a clean and mistake-free drive.

Pierre Gasly

After several consecutive points finishes, Gasly finally saw his impressive run come to an end in Austria. Alpine entered the weekend knowing the circuit would expose the weaknesses of its car, and that prediction proved accurate. The Frenchman drove a solid race but had very little opportunity to fight for positions. A difficult result caused more by equipment limitations than driver performance.

Charles Leclerc

5.2

Starting from the front row raised expectations for Ferrari, but Leclerc’s race quickly moved in the wrong direction. The Monegasque struggled to maintain the pace of Hamilton and lost ground as the afternoon progressed. Ferrari appeared weaker in direct battles, especially against Mercedes and Red Bull. A disappointing result considering the strong qualifying performance and the potential shown before the race.

Carlos Sainz

5.0

Williams faced another complicated weekend, although Sainz once again looked like the driver better adapted to the car. Unfortunately, his race ended early after a mechanical failure stopped what could have been a more competitive afternoon. Before retiring, he was unable to challenge the midfield runners consistently. A frustrating outcome after showing promising signs during the weekend.

Oliver Bearman

A quiet afternoon for Bearman as Haas continues to lose ground compared with its early-season form. The car lacked the pace required to fight with the midfield and gave the young driver few opportunities to make progress. He completed the race without major mistakes but remained outside the main battles. Haas urgently needs improvements to avoid falling further behind.

Fernando Alonso

Aston Martin’s difficult season continued with another race where Alonso had very limited opportunities. The Spaniard finished the event, but most of his gained positions came from retirements rather than competitive pace. A pit lane speeding penalty made the situation even worse. The team’s focus now shifts toward upcoming upgrades that could finally change their current trajectory.

Franco Colapinto

Colapinto described Alpine’s Austrian weekend accurately: the team simply lacked performance. The Argentine avoided major mistakes and brought the car safely to the finish, but there was little chance to fight for meaningful positions. The lack of pace kept him away from the midfield battles throughout the race. It was a weekend focused mainly on limiting the damage.

Esteban Ocon

Ocon experienced another frustrating race with a Haas that continues to show serious performance limitations. Despite gaining positions at the start, the Frenchman gradually dropped back as the car struggled with overall efficiency. He once again pointed to the lack of aerodynamic load as a major weakness. The team needs a significant improvement to recover competitiveness.

Alexander Albon

The Austrian heat created major challenges for Williams, and Albon was one of the drivers most affected by the difficult conditions. Tyre degradation and poor corner performance left him unable to fight with the midfield pack. Unlike Sainz, he found no opportunity to recover positions during the race. A frustrating weekend where the car’s limitations were impossible to hide.

Sergio Perez

4.2

Perez’s weekend was compromised before the race even started, with Cadillac struggling through several reliability and performance issues. The lack of pace was evident, and further problems prevented any realistic chance of recovery. He completed only a few laps before retirement, leaving little room for evaluation. Another disappointing result during a difficult phase for both driver and team.

Lance Stroll

A difficult race from the back of the field ended early for Stroll after a suspected ERS problem forced his retirement. Aston Martin remained far away from the pace needed to fight with other teams. Although the Canadian reported some positive feelings about the car’s behaviour, the final result offered little encouragement. Another challenging weekend for the team.

Valtteri Bottas

There was almost no opportunity to judge Bottas properly, as his race ended after only two laps. Cadillac suffered problems with both cars, and the Finn was unable to show any meaningful pace during the event. The result reflects more the team’s struggles than his individual performance. Another retirement adds to a difficult season for the experienced driver.
