Score Ratings

George Russell

9.6

George Russell started the season in dominant fashion, confirming Mercedes’ favoritism by securing a convincing pole position and converting it into victory. Throughout the weekend, he showed strong pace and consistency, overcoming even Charles Leclerc’s initial challenge at the start to regain control of the race with authority. The win reinforces his position as one of the main title contenders, especially now that Mercedes once again has a competitive car, opening the prospect of many more victories throughout the season.

Arvid Lindblad

9.2

The rookie delivered a very strong Formula 1 debut, showing boldness and maturity despite being the only newcomer on the grid. After an excellent start that briefly put him in third place, he battled experienced drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and even held off Max Verstappen for a few laps. Despite the Racing Bulls’ limited pace, he still scored points and outperformed his teammate Liam Lawson over the weekend, marking a very impressive first race.

Charles Leclerc

8.9

It was a strong weekend despite starting from a less favorable qualifying position. A spectacular start allowed him to jump into the lead and engage in an intense battle for the top spot during the early stages of the race. However, Mercedes’ superior pace and Ferrari’s alternative strategy ultimately limited his chances of fighting for the win, though he still maximized the result to secure a solid third-place finish.

Kimi Antonelli

8.5

It was a weekend of ups and downs, but one that ended with a strong result. After a heavy crash in practice that nearly compromised his qualifying session, the team managed to repair the car in time and he secured a front-row start. Despite a poor start that cost him several positions, he showed strong race pace and recovered well during the race, helped by an effective team strategy, to secure a solid second-place finish.

Lewis Hamilton

8.4

Despite a modest qualifying result, Lewis Hamilton delivered a strong race, gaining several positions in the opening laps thanks to an excellent start and strong early pace. Although he was unable to remain in the top three until the finish, he showed solid performance and appeared far more comfortable with the car than in the previous season. Ferrari’s strategy ultimately limited his chances of a podium, but it was still one of his best performances in recent times.

Gabriel Bortoleto

8.3

Gabriel Bortoleto had a very solid weekend, standing out in qualifying by placing the car in the top ten despite technical issues that prevented him from completing a lap in Q3. In the race, he maintained a consistent performance and, even with a two-stop strategy, managed to score points on the debut weekend of Audi’s power unit in Formula 1. Although some rivals had stronger pace, the Brazilian showed maturity and made the most of the opportunity to secure a positive result for the team.

Isack Hadjar

8.2

Isack Hadjar had a very promising weekend, standing out especially in qualifying by securing an excellent third place on the grid. Even without a car at the level of Mercedes, he showed strong pace and competitiveness, suggesting he could become a solid second driver for Red Bull. Unfortunately, a mechanical issue forced him to retire from the race while he seemed on course for a strong result, but his performance up to that point left a very positive impression.

Oliver Bearman

8.0

Oliver Bearman delivered a standout performance in the midfield at Albert Park. After a difficult start to the weekend, he recovered well in qualifying by outperforming his teammate and securing a strong grid position. In the race, he showed consistent pace, gained several positions, and finished as the best driver outside the top four teams, taking an important seventh place and valuable points in what is expected to be a very tight midfield battle.

Max Verstappen

7.8

Despite a heavy crash in qualifying that left him starting from the back of the grid, Max Verstappen produced an impressive recovery drive. With aggressive and efficient driving, he quickly worked his way through the field and returned to the points, once again showing his ability to bounce back under pressure. A two-stop strategy and the Red Bull’s high tire wear limited an even better result, but sixth place still represented a strong comeback after a very difficult Saturday.

Pierre Gasly

7.6

Pierre Gasly had a difficult qualifying session but managed to recover in the race with a more competitive pace. Over the course of the race, he gained several positions and was ultimately helped by an incident with Esteban Ocon, which proved decisive in securing the final point on offer. Considering Alpine’s recent struggles, leaving Albert Park with a point was still a positive outcome.

Lando Norris

7.0

In his first race as Formula 1 world champion, Lando Norris had a relatively modest weekend compared to expectations. After qualifying behind his teammate, he became McLaren’s lead driver in the race following Oscar Piastri’s crash. With the team still adapting to the new regulations, Norris focused on consistency, managing his tires well in the closing stages and finishing ahead of Max Verstappen despite higher tire wear, securing a solid result even without the pace to fight at the very front.

Fernando Alonso

6.6

Despite a weekend surrounded by uncertainty ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso once again showed his ability to extract the maximum from the car. He delivered a competitive qualifying performance, finishing ahead of teams that were expected to have better pace, and followed it up with a very strong start to the race. Although Aston Martin lost performance as the race progressed and prevented a better result, the two-time champion demonstrated his experience and talent while the car allowed him to stay in the fight.

Esteban Ocon

6.0

Despite a relatively balanced qualifying performance compared to his teammate, the driver struggled to keep up with the pace during the race and ultimately finished well behind within the team. At a time when more leadership and stronger results were expected from him, the performance ended up being rather underwhelming. An incident while battling Pierre Gasly also compromised his chances of fighting for points, leaving the final result below what could potentially have been achieved.

Nico Hulkenberg

5.8

Despite a promising start to the weekend, the driver ultimately had no chance to compete in the race. He showed a solid performance in qualifying and demonstrated competitive pace within the context of the Audi package, staying close to his teammate throughout the sessions. However, a technical issue prevented him from starting the race, costing him the opportunity to fight for points while the team still managed to secure a positive result on track.

Sergio Perez

5.7

Even with a still very limited car, the driver managed to stand out by beating his teammate in qualifying and extracting the maximum from the Cadillac package throughout the weekend. In the race, he delivered a consistent performance within the car’s limitations, but the team’s lack of competitiveness made it clear that fighting for points in 2026 will likely be a major challenge for the experienced Mexican driver.

Alexander Albon

5.5

Alexander Albon had a difficult weekend, reflecting the challenges faced by Williams at the start of the season. After a disappointing qualifying performance, he managed to gain a few positions during the race mainly due to retirements ahead. Even so, it was a rather modest performance, with the driver doing what he could to bring the car to the finish but lacking the pace to consistently fight for more competitive positions.

Franco Colapinto

5.3

The driver showed excellent reflexes at the start by avoiding a collision amid the early race chaos, demonstrating strong awareness and quick reactions. However, a stop-and-go penalty ultimately compromised his race and virtually ended any chances of fighting for points. It was a frustrating outcome, especially since the car’s pace suggested there was potential for a more competitive result.

Valtteri Bottas

5.0

In a weekend that reflected Cadillac’s current limitations, the driver struggled to match the pace of his direct rivals and finished well behind his teammate in qualifying, with a significant time gap. Any chance of progress in the race ended early when a fuel system issue forced him to retire after just a few laps, bringing a premature end to a weekend that had already been difficult from the start.

Carlos Sainz

4.7

Carlos Sainz had a very quiet weekend, hampered by technical issues that compromised his qualifying and left him starting from an uncompetitive position. In the race, lacking the pace to move up through the field, he mostly spent the event circulating without a realistic chance of fighting for points. The performance also reflected the struggles Williams has been facing this season, far from the progress the team had shown in recent years.

Liam Lawson

4.5

The driver had a rather difficult weekend, being clearly outperformed by his rookie teammate throughout the sessions. Although he managed to reach Q3 in qualifying, the race was marked by a poor start and a lack of competitive pace, leaving him far from the main battles on track. The performance raised questions about his consistency within the team, especially given the strong internal pressure and expectations for the upcoming season.

Lance Stroll

2.7

Despite having extremely limited preparation throughout the weekend, the driver managed to deliver a respectable performance under the circumstances. With very few laps completed before the race, he naturally faced adaptation difficulties but still managed to stay on track for a considerable number of laps. Amid concerns surrounding the car’s behavior and potential risks for the drivers, his race ended up being more about endurance and gathering data than truly competing for positions.

Oscar Piastri

2.2

Oscar Piastri had a weekend of highs and lows. Although he managed to qualify ahead of Lando Norris, he ended up crashing during the formation lap, an incident that should not happen in a professional race. Beyond that, there was little else to highlight, and the episode was embarrassing, especially in front of the home crowd, overshadowing his strong qualifying performance.
