Max Verstappen described his win of the third Formula 1 World Championship as “wonderful” as he finished second in the Qatar Sprint. The crash involving his teammate, Sergio Perez, ensured Verstappen’s title before the race’s end.
Starting with medium-category tires, Verstappen dropped from P3 to P5 as the Sprint was launched under the bright lights of the Lusail International Circuit. However, with the medium tires proving effective, he quickly advanced, overtaking the cars of Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, and George Russell, benefiting from three Safety Car stops, and claimed second place, while Oscar Piastri took the Sprint win.
Verstappen’s third title fate was decided on lap 11, following Perez’s crash with Esteban Ocon and Nico Hulkenberg, making any overtake on Verstappen mathematically impossible.
“Stunning,” Verstappen expressed after the race. “I’m at a loss for words. What a marvelous year. I’m grateful for being provided with such a formidable vehicle. Working this year has been an incredible journey. My thanks go out to everyone on the track and in the factory for their relentless effort.”

Reflecting on the dominant performance of the Red Bull RB19, and with his 13 victories this season, Verstappen shared: “It’s undoubtedly a spectacular feeling. A year full of remarkable moments. I’m extremely proud, and being a three-time champion is a notable achievement.”
When asked about his future aspirations, he commented, “We’ll wait and see. I’m living in the moment, and I hope we can continue this energy for quite some time.”
With this triumph, Red Bull also celebrates, having previously secured the constructors’ championship in Suzuka. Now, Verstappen prepares for the Qatar Grand Prix, where he will line up on the pole for the tenth time this year.
With this feat, Verstappen joins a distinct group of Formula 1 drivers, including names like Sir Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, and Ayrton Senna.
