Biography

Lance Stroll: a young talent with a flair for wet conditions

There is no such thing as too much too soon for Lance Stroll, a Canadian prodigy with a particular skill in the rain. One of the most charismatic young drivers on the grid, Stroll was unveiled by Williams shortly after his 18th birthday, before he had even finished high school or obtained his driving license.

In his debut 2017 season, Stroll quickly proved he meant business, setting records along the way. An opportunistic racer, he reached the podium in Baku, becoming the youngest rookie to do so. The son of a wealthy entrepreneur, he was familiar with a luxurious lifestyle, but discovered that champagne tastes even sweeter on the podium. At Monza, he mastered the wet conditions and became the youngest driver ever to start from the front row.

Single-minded and competitive, Stroll loves to gain positions on the opening lap and fight for points. His potential to become a long-term F1 fixture was confirmed with his first pole position and two more podiums in 2020.

Stroll’s journey is closely linked to his father, Lawrence, who led the consortium that took over Force India in 2018, transforming it into Racing Point and later Aston Martin in 2021. The future looks bright for both the team and the young driver, who continues to thrive at the sharp end of the pack, even when it rains.
